Lockdown has thrown us some pretty binge worthy TV shows. The past few months I have made my way through a lot of TV. Most of the programmes have been recommended by friends or good old Instagram. I thought I would share with you my top 7 programmes to binge your way through.
This was one I just stumbled across on BBC iPlayer. I think it was one saturday when James was working and I was hooked from the first episode. Anna Kendrick stars in a fresh take on a romantic comedy anthology series about the journey from first love to lasting love. Its heartwarmingly beautiful, sad and funny. It’s still on the BBC if you have not watched it.
Ok, this was a Instagram recommendation. I was a bit late to the party with this one. I Started it about 3 weeks after its release on Netflix because every single person I follow on Instagram was talking about it. On first glance, it’s not something I would have just picked out myself, but I am so glad I followed suit. Wealth, lust, and betrayal set against the backdrop of Regency-era England, seen through the eyes of the powerful Bridgerton family. I watched it within two days, and I really wish I had spaced it out a bit. It was so good and I am so glad its been picked up for a second season!
It’s a Sin
This was utterly brilliant. I cried like a baby and had all the emotions watching this. Was heartbreakingly sad. A chronicle of four friends during a decade in which everything changed, including the rise of AIDS. Its a definite must watch if you haven’t watched it already.
Emily In Paris
I want to be Emily! Again, this was another Instagram recommendation that everyone seemed to be talking about. It was another programme I was late to the party in watching. Like Bridgerton, I am so glad I followed suit and watched it. A young American woman from the Midwest is hired by a marketing firm in Paris to provide them with an American perspective on things. It has since been nominated for two golden globes, It is definitely worthy of those nominations!
This is Us
I started this at the beginning of the last lockdown and I am so glad I did. It’s utterly brilliant. I love the way its set out concentrating on one family and the lives of those they come across. A heartwarming and emotional story about a unique set of triplets, their struggles and their wonderful parents. Every single episode I end up crying. It’s a real tear jerker.
I stumbled across this as Netflix added it to a “programme you may like” I watched the first series and it left me wanting more. I was in luck because I only had to wait a few days for season two to drop. After seeing an ad for a midwife, a big-city nurse moves to the redwood forests of northern California, where she meets an intriguing man. Its romantic, heartwarming and sad all in one. An easy watch and one that I am looking forward to watching more, I am certain season 3 has been announced!
I am always open for more ideas on TV shows to binge through. If you have any must watch programmes do leave a comment and let me know, I will be sure to add them to my “must watch” list!
