Where to start? In September Gracie headed into year six with such excitement. So much to look forward to and so much to gain. And then COVID happened and before we knew it the schooling system had changed dramatically. We as parents were the ones teaching and we had to prepare for them for the inevitable, that their end of year will be hugely different to previous. No production, no residential, no year 6 transition to senior school, no celebration.
Let’s take it back to the start, where it all began..
7 years ago my not so little girl walked into school a quiet, shy and reserved 5 year old. You never think of the end at the beginning but somehow it’s now the end. Those 7 years have flashed past us and here we are, leaving year 6 behind.
Gracie luckily has spent the last 6 weeks back at school. She returned in June and although it was completely different to what she was used to, she got to see her friends and enjoy the last six weeks as a small bubble. She has enjoyed some sort of normality and hopefully has some lovely memories from her final days in junior school.
It’s really not how we pictured it. She has missed out on so so much the last few months but I could not be more proud of her.
She has blossomed into such a kind hearted, sweet young girl. She isn’t that shy 5 year old anymore, she is a confident, beautiful 11 year old. She has so much to look forward too, so much more to learn.
Today doesn’t mark the end, it’s the beginning of something new and no matter, what, how or well she does I will always be so proud of her.
