little loves 2019 | may edition

It’s the end of the month and Its Fri-yay, which means a Little Loves round up. May has been a month of sunshine and warm weather. We have spent the majority of our spare time trying our hardest to complete the garden and spend time together as a family. Gracie and Henry are now sick of Garden Centres as we seemed to have visited at least one every weekend!

We have made the most of the warm weather with alfresco eating and BBQ’s galore. I love a good British Summer BBQ! I was also loving my wisteria this year. Technically its not mine, its my neighbours but I have cheekily trained it to come over into our garden!

Without too much waffling, here is my Little Loves for the month of May.

Read

This month a bought some books that were in my wish list. I immediately started reading the first one on my list. Everything I never Told You by Celeste Ng. I’m not a fast reader, especially now I hardly ever have time to read so I’m only a few chapters in but already I am intrigued by it. Definitely has the potential to be a really good read.

Watched

May has been a quiet month for TV. I have not really watched anything amazing to shout about. Nothing that has had me gripped like previous months. I’ve watched a few things I have enjoyed though.

Someone Great (Netflix) I caught this at the beginning of the month. I think I was ill and spent most of the day in bed. I watched the trailer and decided I would give it a go. Its a really easy watch and quite funny at times. If its your kind of film then I would recommend it. “Dumped by her long-term boyfriend, a music journalist recruits her two best friends for one last outrageous adventure in New York City before she moves to San Francisco”

Hatten Garden (ITV) – This famous burglary has been documented on ITV this month. A gang of senior ex-cons plan for years to rob a vault on Easter weekend in 2015. I still need to watch the last episode, but I have really enjoyed this mini series, its amazing that they actually even managed to pull it off!

Aladdin (VUE) – Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this film. We went this week and I really enjoyed it. There were a few moments which I thought were a bit wierd as they were not part of the original film. Will Smith made a pretty damn good genie. I didn’t think anyone could beat Robin Williams, but Will surprised me. Definitely go and see it if you can!

I also read that Gavin and Stacey is back for a Christmas special and I am oh so excited. I loved the series when it aired. I am so happy they announced they would be making a comeback.

Heard

Lots of laughter and chatter form Gracie and Henry. Now the garden is pretty much done they have spent a lot of time in it. The pads have been put down and the imagination of thier minds have come to life. I love watching them play together. It’s nice to see them getting along!

Wore

Lycra – The Lycra made an appearance this month. May was the first month of my longer planned walks for the shine training. I dug out the Lycra which made the walk more comfortable. I really need to get my bum in gear and get out more because although I enjoyed the longer walk I felt really achy for the whole day after!

Sandals – The boots have been put to the back of the wardrobe and the sandal are now a firm fixture on my feet. It’s nice to have the toes out and not have my feet confined to boots.

Made

We made huge progress in our garden this month. It is so very close to completion. The Astro turf is down and we have made a rather lovely raised bed where James has put a water feature. We bought some new plants and even bought a “flamingo” tree. It’s looking really lovely. We are popping out over the weekend to buy a few bedding plants as we have quite a few empty pots that need filling.

This month I have continued to make meals from scratch. I made meatballs. The first time I made it I think I over cooked it as it was really dry and really thick. The second time I attempted it I think I managed to do a pretty good job. Only had a complaint from Gracie who is going through a huge fussy eating stage, but everyone else enjoyed it!

I made some plans for our holiday. We are off to Center Parcs. We normally go earlier in the year but this year we have booked it for August. I made sure I was ahead of the game and booked in some activities early as I can imagine it being very busy. I also have booked in a rather cheeky spa visit one evening which I am really looking forward to!

And lastly

This month sees my baby, Henry turn eight! I mean I have no idea where those eight years have gone. I feel like I have blinked and it’s all flashed before me. He hasn’t really asked for much which is always a little unnerving but he enjoys computer games so we have gone with that.

Also we are now in the final term of school! I mean how did that happen?! Gracie heads into year six next year which is just mind blowing and Henry heads into year four! Wish time would just slow down! I think both Gracie and Henry are in full countdown now to the six weeks!

I am looking forward to seeing you all link up in May! Have a wonderful month ahead.

I wish I could get away with wearing lycra – other than leggings with a very floppy top I wouldn’t dare! I bet Aladdin was awesome – must book a show soon!

I can’t believe the kids go back tomorrow, and then I think it’s only 6 weeks until they break up again. Time is going so quickly at the moment. Sounds like you are getting lots out of your garden, and I would love to put astro turf down in ours. Isn’t it nice to put the boots away and get the sandals out x

Great to see that you’ve finally managed to do some reading! I’ve not read any of her books but she’s firmly on my list of authors I want to discover. I’m also super excited about the return of Gavin and Stacey at Christmas – definitely one of my all time favourites. Your garden sounds lovely, looking forward to seeing some finished pictures! xx
