Hello and welcome back to a new little loves round-up!
Can we just take a moment to reflect on how blinking quick August went??I mean, felt like yesterday I was putting together my last Little Loves post. This brings me onto how have terrible I have been blogging lately as I realised when I opened my laptop that actually the last post was my July Little Love round-up!!!
August was rather chilled. We were supposed to head to Centre Parts at the beginning of the month, but we decided to postpone it till next year. We really didn’t want to risk anything and it seemed pointless going with limited stuff to do. So we made the most of days out. I had a full week off work, which was bliss, I felt like I needed to recharge after the whole lockdown/working form home/home schooling. It looks its toll and I just needed that break.
Without too much waffling, here is my Little Loves for August
I was so excited last month because I had a shed loads of books to get through but I just have not had the inclination to pick up a book and read it. I am still reading Normal People and still very much enjoying it. As I have got older I have turned into a very slow reader!
Selling Sunset (Netflix) – OMG ok, I fell down a huge rabbit hole during lockdown and binged watched the first and second season. This month the third season hit Netflix and I think I managed to watch all episodes in a day! Shamefull!! Its an easy watch and you get to look at multi-million pound properties you only dream about!
Line of Duty (BBC) – Oh I love this program and I watched it on my own the first time round when it hit our screens. I have finally managed to persuade James to watch them with me. We have managed one episode a night so far, but the more suspense they get, I think the more we will want to squeeze in!
Inside Missguided: Made in Manchester (C4) – I came across this by just flicking through the channels one evening. It gives you an insight into one of Britain’s biggest fast-fashion brands, lets cameras behind the scenes to see what life is like for their young, female-dominated workforce at their offices in Manchester.
I think the majority of the UK was with me this month in wearing very little! I lived in my saltwaters this month! It actually peaked at 38° in Essex and it was pretty uncomfortable to say the least. Its not temperatures I am keen on and I really really struggled. There was no shade and just no air and I found myself wanting to constantly be indoors because that’s where I felt safest from the sun! Having had skin cancer, it’s a constant battle to protect yourself. I much prefer low to mids 20’s!
Folklore – Yep, still listening to this ON. REPEAT. if you have not had a listen, I would highly recommend it. Its beautifully written and I find a sense of calm when I have it playing. Some really beautiful songs on the album.
We made the trip down to Brighton this month. Somewhere I always say I want to go doing the summer and we never get round to it. We went during the week so was a lot quieter than going on the weekend and to be honest it was a really lovey day out. We managed to go on the first day of the Eat Out initiative which was a nice surprise! Was a long but wonderful day and it was something different!
This month has been about making test runs for Gracie and her new school. We have spent a few days walking too and from school making sure she feels comfortable with the walk. Its about 25 minutes in total, could be shorter, depending how slow she walks!! We aim to get another few dummy walks in before she starts school, but so far she is quite confident! Its definitely a new process she will have to come to terms with. I will be able to drop her off most mornings, but she will have to walk home, not too sure who is more nervous, Gracie or me!!
This time next week I will have had one child back at school for two days and the eldest preparing to head to senior school. Cannot believe we are in September and sending them back in. Its definitely more nerve wracking than any normal September!! How are you feeling about sending the children back?
