January 30, 2022

Wow! January has come to an end! It’s been a whirlwind month. Normally I dread January. The slump after Christmas and the long cold months ahead. I think this is the first year in a very long time that I’ve got lost in the month and before I can even say hello January, I’m say hello February!

I think one of the reasons it’s flown by, is because at the beginning of the month I had an interview, I was offered the position the same day and started a week later. It’s been the best decision ever and I am in a happy foggy haze of new job vibes. It’s perfect and I still cannot believe my luck. No more working from home, term time only and I get to talk to humans in the flesh! It’s going really well and I could not be happier!

Without too much waffling here are my little loves for January!

Stay Close (Netflix) – I heard good things about this. Everyone seemed to absolutely rave about it across all my social media. I enjoyed it, but wouldn’t have said it was the best thing I’ve watched recently. I think it was hyped a little too much.

Trigger Point (ITV) – anything with Vicky McClure in I’m going to love. I was a bit worried it would be another Line of Duty but really it isn’t. I had a bad feeling throughout the first episode that something just wasn’t right. I won’t give away any spoilers incase your still to watch but I would recommend giving it a go if you haven’t!

This is Us (Disney+) – The final season is back and I feel like before every episode I need to mentally prepare myself for the worst. This has been by far the best series I’ve watched recently. It’s so well put together and the cast is just amazing!

Gracie had her parents evening this week. Across the board academically she is doing so well. Every teacher had such lovely things to say about her. I had some really lovely comments fed back to me! Super proud of her and so pleased she has settled back in with ease!

As mentioned earlier I heard I was accepted for a new job. It was so out the blue and really did not think I would get it. It’s at Henry’s school working as admin in the school office. It’s perfect, term time only which is just brilliant and jobs like this as a parent are like gold dust! I was so nervous for the interview but I managed to stay positive and confident. It paid off as just as Henry was coming out of school that day I got the call to say I had passed the interview! Two weeks in and it’s going so so well!

As I started a new job, and I’ve been working from home for the past 15 months I was desperate for new work clothes. I did an order online and bought some new smarter clothes. Feels so good to get dressed up in new things, rather than wear jeans and tees every day!

I’ve been making a conscious effort to wear my hair down. I’ve been box dying it for years and in November I decided to stop. The grey is coming through thick and fast and it’s a little mish mash of colours at the moment (grey, brown and red) but looks marginally better when it’s down. I eventually want to dye it professionally grey all over but because it’s red at the moment it will take a lot of money to get it to what I want. Patience is key!

I am currently making a crochet tea cosy for an order. It’s a rainbow design and I’m really enjoying it. Once it’s complete I am sure I will post some pictures on Instagram. It’s such a bright fun project!

This month I also baked a Blackberry and Apple Crumble cake (which I didn’t get any pictures of!) it came out a bit strange if I’m honest. The tin I used was too small so it ended up being a huge cake and the crumble mix didn’t quite go to plan. It tasted nice though!

I also made a Nutella Cheesecake as a treat for after Sunday dinner! I will pop up a recipe soon!

Now I have more time on my hands at the end of the day I’ve been making myself have an hour to myself. Baths are my all time favourite thing so I have been making the most of the free late afternoons and enjoying a soak with a hot chocolate!

I went for my final early morning dog walk this month before starting my new job and it was by far the coldest day. The frost was so crisp on the ground. One thing I will definitely miss. I now tend to walk her at the end of the day, so instead of watching the sun rise I watch the sunset!

We celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary this month! It scares me to think how quickly that had gone by!! Only feels like it was last year! I just hope the next 15 don’t go by as fast!
